Obedience Training
Personalized one-on-one sessions that turn everyday frustration — pulling, jumping, barking, ignoring you — into clear, reliable communication between you and your dog.
Buck's Virginia has the right training option for your dog
We don't drill commands for a classroom. We build obedience that works on a busy sidewalk, at the front door, and around other dogs — the moments where it actually counts.
Group classes move at the pace of the room. Private sessions move at the pace of your dog. We assess your specific dog, coach you as the handler, and adjust every session to the behaviors you most want changed — so progress compounds instead of stalling.
A balanced method: positive reinforcement to teach new behavior, fair and clearly communicated corrections to make it reliable. We start with foundational commands and layer in the 3 Ds — Distance, Duration, and Distraction — until your dog responds the first time, every time.
Every effective, humane tool — slip lead, prong, e-collar, food, structure. We explain every choice on the consult so you understand exactly what your dog is learning and why.
CATCH CCDT, AKC CGC Evaluator, Pet First Aid, and NePoPo® Gold School graduates, plus a dedicated Service Dog Coordinator for ADA-compliant work.
We do not stop until your dog reaches the goals we write down together at the start. The result is the deliverable — not a fixed number of sessions.
Start with a single session or commit to a package — most owners see the fastest results across a structured 5-hour package.

It depends on the behaviors and how consistently the plan is applied at home. Most owners book the 5-hour package because the structured progression gets to reliable results faster than one-off sessions.
Both. Obedience that lasts requires the handler to learn the mechanics, so every private session includes hands-on coaching for you.
If your dog has deeper behavioral issues — reactivity, aggression, severe anxiety — we may recommend a Board and Train program instead. We tell you honestly on the free consult.
Walking trails, a frisbee field, nosework area, agility yard, and saltwater swimming pool in Newsoms, VA give your dog room to move, focus, and generalize what it learns.
Trusted across Suffolk, Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, and Franklin throughout Hampton Roads and Southern Virginia.
Daily updates during the program and a structured go-home lesson at the end mean the training transfers to you — not just to us.
